WHEN

Founded in the final year of normalcy.

Market Collaborative created it’s first product, Market Coin, in the fall of 2019. Shortly after our innagural 2000 person event, COVID-19 shocked the world ultimately grounding life to a halt.

WHERE

From Ejection Seats to Restaurant Seats

Founded inside of a retail deli, Market Collaborative morphed along with the 50+ other businesses at a community marketplace in Aurora, CO called Stanley Marketplace. Within these historic walls is where the first ejection seats were invented and it’s now home to our first ever Market Coin marketplace.

WHY

Unique Opportunity, Unique Times

The host for a large 2000+ person annual host reached out wanting to buy-out all of Stanley Marketplace for an evening. Sounds easy enough, but with 50+ small businesses within the Stanley, it proved to be a financially unfeasible endeavor. Market Coin was the solution. By providing every guest with a pre-printed and pre-funded “private event card”, the host was able to throw an unforgettable event with a resounding “COOL” factor from the guests.

Do I have to be in a marketplace to join?

If you’re independent and have interest in joining the Market Coin Network, it’s best to get together with at least half a dozen small businesses near you that are also willing to join. Market Coin’s marketing efforts are only as strong as the number of shops that can use the card at any given location.

Once you get at least 6 folks together that are willing to join, please reach out to us for onboarding.

What are the costs?

When Market Coin was founded in 2019, we strived to ensure vendors have little barrier of entries. The way we designed things means, after onboarding, vendors only have to pay if they choose optional add-on services which can further improve their profitability and experience.

How do you make money?

The fees on Market Coins are front-loaded. Meaning by the time the customer gets to you with a gift card or private event card, any relevant fees have already been paid for by the card holder.

What type of support do you provide?

We offer live chat, text, and phone support 24/7/365. No matter the day and time, we’re available to answer questions that not only vendors have, but also private event hosts and end-consumers.

Where do I download the Market Coin Customer App?

You can find the Market Coin Customer App in the Apple App Store here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/maco-customer/id6740782950

At this time, the customer app is only available on iOS devices. An Android app is in the works.

When I add a Market Coin to my account, what do I do with the physical one?

After scanning your Market Coin(s) into your Customer app, please securely destroy your physical copies of the card as the app will now display a 6-digit code when you make a purchase for added security. This code will need to be provided to the vendor at the time of purchase.

What are the costs of a Market Coin?

Market Coin’s are front loaded in order to support small businesses. This means that the purchaser of the Market Con bears the responsibility for any fees/costs. This allows us to provide vendors with 100% of the purchase amount allowing them to more easily keep the doors open.

When does my Market Coin expire?

Standard Market Coin Gift Card’s never expire. Private Event Market Coin’s expire at the end of the event. Expired Market Coin’s cannot be recovered and any remaining balances are zeroed out.

I lost my Market Coin

We’re sorry to hear this happened to you. Unless the Market Coin was added to your Customer app, there is unfortunately no way to recover a lost one. Market Coin’s are not replaceable or refundable and must be treated just like cash.

Is there a minimum number of vendors needed?

There are multiple reasons why one would need a Marketplace account, such as:

  • You’re the manager/owner of a community marketplace that has multiple vendors (tenants) renting space from you.
  • You’re the manager/owner of a business that has multiple locations.
  • You’re an employee with the city that manages a locale that has a common theme (ie: Pearl Street in Boulder, CO) where customers walk around different shops rather than travel by car.

In summary: If you manage multiple locations, a Marketplace account is for you!

Regardless of your case, there is a minimum of 2 vendors, or business locations, needed to be considered a Marketplace.

What are the costs of being a Marketplace?

We have a sliding scale pricing system to get you setup and running to accept Market Coins.

What type of features are in the Marketplace App?
  • View upcoming private events that either you, or your customers created as well as the contact information for the event host.
  • View contact for each vendor/location assigned to your marketplace.
  • View sales totals for each vendor/location to gain insights into how your marketing is working.
  • View overall Market Coin sales that originated at your Marketplace.
Will I receive support as a Marketplace?

Absolutely! We’d never leave you hanging in a time of need. Our support staff are on hand 24/7 to answer your emails and phone calls, and live video. Whether you need help onboarding a new vendor, have questions about billing, need help with a private event, or have an emergency, we’re able to provide fast support via Zoom, email and phone.
